Paperchase & paper play

Monday, December 21, 2009
Although I've come down with some kind of bug just in time Christmas (thank you santa) I managed to bundle myself up and make it down to Paperchase (which by the way is open from 8am over Christmas if anyone fancies a verrry early morning stationary fix!) to see my greetings cards in action.

Despite my dad offering to "move them up in the display a smidge" I'm very happy with them although it's slightly surreal to see them being sold in one of my favourite shops.

Also, on a side note, I'd like to say I was doing something productive during my time off but I've mainly been spending my time falling asleep and making santa out of paper. Oh yeah, I live in the fast lane.

Learning to love yellow

Saturday, December 19, 2009

I've never really taken to the colour yellow but given the appearance of the sun over a snow covered London (well at least my part of London) today, all of these goodies particularly appeal.

Snow day (in my dreams)

  1. Coat - too thin but lovely detailing on shoulders and back
  2. Heels - impractical but lined with fluffy stuff
  3. Trousers - roll up ankles technically not needed because of boots but apparently means I am "on trend"
  4. Jumper - warm, cozy, sleeves too long (and just how I like them)
  5. Handbag - big enough to stash two hot water bottles and a pile of sketchbooks in...wouldn't save me in a snow drift but at least I could draw a lovely SOS...

Socks are deceptive little creatures

Sunday, December 13, 2009

A big thank you must go to Susie of Style Bubble for featuring me but also for reassuring me that I'm not the only one who loves a good satchel. Maybe it's a quirk of the creative person and a need to have a space to throw in those endless notepads/pens/useless items that made sense at the time...
I think these beauties come under the category of "items I must attempt to steal from boyfriend/male friend without him noticing"

Craftacular totes & trinkets

Monday, December 07, 2009
Posts have been a bit sparse around here lately but it's all been for a good cause. With the Craftacular coming up I've been making as much as I can before the big day. A last minute push has resulted in these totes & trinkets...

I'm almost crafted out, which has helped with my "big decision" to take a couple of months off of work to recuperate after this seemingly long year. I'm feeling a bit antsy about it seeing as I'm one of those people who ends up working even when a holiday is declared (contrary, moi?!) but I think it's much needed and in the end will probably do me a world of good. Fingers crossed anyway...

A bit of crafty Christmas improvisation

A Craftacular update...

Tuesday, December 01, 2009

I wish I had a bit more time to blog but I've been busy making bits and pieces for the upcoming Bust Craftacular. I thought I'd give you all a little sneaky preview of what will be on offer....

I'm loving the calendars a little too much, I almost don't want to let them go. Plus I've been stocking up on Christmas supplies, especially teeny little trees. They don't really serve any purpose other than making me smile.

And talking of making me smile, my cards in association with Art Press are now available in the flagship Paperchase stores on Tottenham Court Road and in Manchester. I haven't been to see them yet but I'm sure to be found in there surreptitiously taking photos as soon as I can!

Tote bags

Monday, November 23, 2009
In my birdy addled brain I really can't make up my mind between these two designs for tote bags. One appeals to the tea lovers, the other to artists and doodlers alike.

Help me choose! Whichever one that wins will be debuted at the Bust Christmas Craftacular!

Harold has antler aspirations

Tuesday, November 10, 2009
I was meant to be going to a creative blogger meet up tonight but woke up feeling under the weather and probably won't make it. This makes for a grumpy Kate today but still, a doodle or two brightens the mood a little.

Business bird

I imagine this little chap is often seen taking a stroll down Savile Row...

A little outpouring...

Sunday, November 08, 2009
It's not often I write about "personal" things on my blog. I suppose it's becuase it's a place I like to keep cheery and happy but sometimes it's a good outlet for an outpouring that has to be made! As some of my readers might know, I have something called M.E, or chronic fatigue, which makes me a generally exhuasted person. Being a freelancer, this suits me well most of the time because I can work at my own pace (not to mention from bed with the trusty mac book) but at others it can be isolating and frustrating. It's a bit of a battle between mind and body, wanting to go out and be social and then having to constantly disappoint yourself when your body just says no. Lately I think it's been getting to me more and more, I think I've been under a gloomy little cloud for a while and turned into a very shy person. To be honest I'm not quite sure what direction to move in. I was considering getting a studio to work in so I could meet new people but then considered the travel aspect & lugging all of my junk (I mean essential equipment) to and from and whether I would be able to cope. I looked at a few jewellery courses too but they tend to run all day and I don't know whether I would cope with those either. Or possibly a half day internship somewhere is the way to go? It all feels like a bit of a tricky conundrum! So lovely readers, do you have any suggestions?

Ok, tired and emotional ramble over...back to nice doodles :)
